Frequently Asked Questions
At what age can my dog be spayed/neutered? Puppies should be at least 3 months of age, but we will perform surgery on them as young as 8 weeks if they are being adopted out and/or belong to a rescue organization. More info >
At what age can my cat be spayed/neutered? Kittens must weigh a minimum of 2 pounds and be 8 weeks of age. More info >
Does my pet need to see a traditional veterinarian before surgery? Puppies and kittens under 6 months of age should have age-appropriate vaccinations and a fecal examination which will be updated at the time of surgery if not current. Please note that we do not accept owner or breeder administered vaccinations.
Can my female dog/cat be spayed while in heat or pregnant? Yes. Spaying while pregnant will humanely terminate the pregnancy. There is no additional heat/pregnancy fee for cats. There is a $10-$30 extra fee for dogs who are heat/pregnant on the day of their surgery.
Is my pet too old to be spayed/neutered? We will not perform surgery on dogs weighing more than 80 pounds or over the age of 7 years. Please contact your local veterinary hospital for a consultation.
Is pre-operative bloodwork required? Pre-operative bloodwork is optional but is never harmful to your animal and always comes recommended to ensure a safe anesthesia and happy recovery from surgery for your pet.
My pet has undescended testicle(s), can you neuter him? In most cases yes, however there is an additional fee. Please contact our office for pricing.
Can you repair my pet's umbilical hernia at the time of spay/neuter? In most cases yes, however there is an additional fee. Please contact our office for pricing.
Is the tattoo optional? No, all animals will be tattooed with a small blue line to indicate that they have been spayed or neutered. See tattoo sample here >
Can my pet be vaccinated without surgery? No, vaccines are only available on the day of surgery.
Are there any breeds that cannot have surgery at this clinic? We will not perform surgery on Greyhounds and Afghan Hounds. Please consult your traditional veterinarian for a consultation.
Do you offer any services without spay/neuter surgery? Yes. Microchipping, Heartworm testing, FeLV/FIV combo testing, fecal exam and nail trims are available without surgery. Flea/tick and heartworm prevention are also available for purchase. Note: proof of a negative heartworm test is required to purchase prevention.
Do you declaw? No and we strongly recommend you do your research before subjecting your cat to such a painful and quality of life altering procedure.
What forms of payment do you accept? We accept cash and debit/credit cards (3% fee). We also accept Apple Pay. We do not accept personal checks. We do not accept CareCredit.
When is payment due? Payment, in full, is due at discharge. We do not offer payment plans.
Do you have a cancellation policy? Yes, we require 2 business day's notice to cancel or reschedule. If you miss two appointments, without cancelling, you will be required to pay a 50% non-refundable deposit in order to reschedule. This policy does not apply to feral (wild) cats that are being trapped and re-released.
How should I transport my pet to its appointment?

Dogs must wear a secure harness (or collar) and leash.

What should I do if I think my pet is having a post-operative emergency? In case of emergency, such as persistent vomiting or diarrhea, extreme lethargy, open incisions, and bleeding, please contact us at 910-602-1101. For general questions you may also text to 910-471-5050.
